There are many benefits of time management and reasons why you should look for ways to include time management as part of your overall self improvement.
As Benjamin Franklin once said, ?Do you love life?? Then do not squander time, for that?s the stuff that life is made of.?
Some benefits of time management are:
- You?ll be more organized
- You?ll eliminate what is not important and make room for what is
- You?ll be clutter-free
- You?ll have more completed projects as opposed to many incomplete projects
- You?ll balance work and play much more effectively
and so much more.
Using your time wisely is an important element to learning how to become more successful in all parts of your life.
People who do learn how to manage their time effectively and practice this, often function with ease, are very confident and have very good self esteem. They complete tasks that they set out to do and feel good about this and themselves.
Whereas people who do not possess good time management skills are usually people who suffer from stress, insecurity, and low self-esteem. Even children labeled as being gifted can sometimes be known to have poor time management skills because they tend to get overly excited about too many things at once and thus, lose focus.
According to time management secialist, Michael Fortino, over an average lifespan, a person spends:
- Seven years in the bathroom
- Six years eating
- Five years waiting in lineups
- Four years cleaning their house
- Three years in meetings
- One year looking for things
- Eight months opening junk mail
- Six months sitting at red lights
- One hundred and twenty days brushing their teeth
But only:
- Four minutes per day talking with their spouse
- Thirty seconds per day talking with their children
Most of these activities, like stopping at red lights, are necessary, while others, like opening junk mail, are not. The key is to prioritize each of your activites so that you have more control over your life.
You must learn how to control your time. It?s a huge challenge for some of us, while others seem to do this easily. Why? There?s a simple reason: those who have learned to manage their time well have learned to do so. It?s become a good habit that has turned into a powerful skill.
Time management means learning how to organize your time and to prioritize what?s most important so that you can effectively achieve what you set out for yourself. It?s something that should be taken seriously because effective time management can really improve the quality of your life.
